2024 Theme: "BOLD-- Make it Bold. Make it Patterned. Make it Work"
1. Silhouette: Sometimes you have to go BIG to go bold! Take up space in an extravagant silhouette, like Iris Van Herpen's sculptural yet airy piece. Rodarte shows us ruffles on ruffles and uses them in unexpected places like sleeves. Rick Owens's dramatic collar teaches us that we can stay minimal but still be bold. And the boldest of them all... Commes des Garçon, of course! Rei Kawakubo is the master of bold with an oversized silhouette, neon ruffles, and a sequin print. The neon hair and acid trip Crocs polish off an unforgettable look that isn't for the faint of heart.
2. Color/Print/Textile: Textiles are the perfect way to incorporate boldness into your Threads look. From color to prints to interesting textiles, there's something for everyone, and in a silhouette that you may find more approachable. We adore the vibrant red fringe of McQueen and the chainmail metallics of Rabanne. The painterly prints of Ulla Johnson are wearable art, while Vetements takes the classic cheetah print to a whole new realm of bold! Want to go even bolder? Mix prints on prints, pair neons with other bright colors, or layer different textiles.
3. Concept: Bold doesn't always have to be in your face. Consider the concepts behind the designs and how doing the unexpected can be just as bold as hot pink. Vetements and Valentino both take casual basics to a different place by playing with scale and elevated materials. Jeans and a T-shirt for a gala? It's bold! Moschino "gets cheeky" with their drawn-on prints, while Maison Margiela breaks down 21st-century high fashion and sends it down the runway with a punk rock attitude.
4. Accessories: Don't want to make your whole look bold? A great way to ease into the theme but still shine is through your accessories. Shoes, bags, jewelry, eyewear, and hats can all add a bold element to your Threads outfit. We love the novelty items, like Schiaparelli's gigantic golden lobster necklace, but materials and prints can also come into play here. The bright tones and fringe on Roksanda shoes and classic yet fun polka dots on Sixdo's oversized bag take any bold look to the next level.
